No idea, some got past the rings is my guess...? (compression is a bit low across the board). 1/2 gallon of water first, then the bottle of Seafoam. Mike@PureMS noticed the same thing after his water/seafoam treatment--so I sortof expected it.

When I changed my oil, I hadn't realized just how much water was in there, I almost overflowed my usual oil collecting pan. There must have been like 7 quarts of fluid drained out.
Are your piston tops cleaner? Mine were only marginally better. Nothing like what Rob experienced in the photos that he posted long ago.

Damn, 7qts. You used a whole gallon of water THEN the Seafoam, right? I ended up only using 1/2 gallon, as that's when I noticed it stopped smoking.

But water (or the solvents in sea foam) is a lot thinner than oil. I can certainly see how it would slip past the rings.
