Default Loud road noise all of a sudden?

I noticed an increase in road noise recently but I cannot think of what it might be. It's hard to describe with words but it is like a resonance that gets louder and softer, like it is in and out of phase (naaaAAAnaaaAAAnaaaAAAnaaaAAA) and it's frequency increases with speed. It starts to become noticable at 25-30 MPH and is the worst at 35 MPH. It continues at higher speeds but becomes less noticable as it blends into a solid tone. It is independent of engine speed, as it remains the same in neutral. I checked all my tires and they have good pressure and tread. Any ideas, it's bothering me more and more by the day.
Thanks,
Jeff

Default I don't think it is the wheel bearing, how can I check?

The wheel bearings were repaired on the car before I purchased it. I test drove it with bad bearings and it was much more noticable than this. On the other hand, it may be the beginning of a problem. Do you know how I can check the bearings myself?

Not sure on the miles. I bought the car used with them on, about 10,000 miles ago.

Default Jack the car up and spin the wheel, listen. A stethescope would be good. If not,

use a screwdriver on something on the suspension and put your ear to that. You'll hear a horrid scratching noise if its the wheel bearing.
Also, try moving the wheel top to bottom while it is jacked up, if it is loose you may just be able to tighten up the bearings.

Default plastic scoop have all the screws in?

Mine is doing that right now. I only have three of the fasteners holding the shround that covers the bottom of the engine on b/c I lost one when changing the oil. I found it after the car was off of the ramps but haven't put it back on yet. Did you have anything done under the car lately?
