Loud Whine Noise PS Pump?
I have noticed this noise getting louder, do power steering pumps start to go bad and make a loud whine noise?
1999 A4 1.8T 114k miles.

Not sure where the pump is located on the 1.8t but on my 1999 2.8 it made a whining sound from the middle-front part of the engine compartment. This noise was my P/S pump. It over time got worse. The P/S fluid also got foamy from air getting into the system.

what did u do to fix it? i changed my pump the noises stopped but no power steering, checked fluid they fine. what could it be?
it used to make a loud type of whining noise when turning wheel driving or not driving. and if u turned the wheel fast no noise and no power steering, but if u turned it slowly u get the loud noise and sometimes power steering but when the pump go changed all the noises stopped.. do i have to bleed the system down completly? or what?
