To Low or not to Low?

I got a set of used Bilstein sport shocks and debating whether to lower the car or not. I have the OEM sport suspension and hate the floaty ride at high speed. I read a lot of the post and find some people was able to get rid of the floaty ride with Bilstein.
What are the benefit of a lowered car? I don't want to make ride too harsh but want to improve handling. If I lower the car, it will be another 1" max. What are the options in springs? brand?
Thanks a lot for any advise.

If you only lower the car 1" the ride shouldn't be affected too much. You may even find you like the stiffer ride better, it feels (and looks) sportier. Your handling will also improve when lowering the car. I would go for it, you can always change back to stock, if you don't like it.<p>('00 A4 1.8TQ)
