I know this tool is fairly inexpensive, but I cannot remember who has it available (I believe it is PUREMS) and I need to change the lower arms this week. Is there anyone in the S.F. bay area, specifically Santa Cruz if possible, that has one I could borrow? I have the arms, just not this tool to get the ball joints out.

I will give that a try, but with a tapered bearing I'm not sure how much luck I'll have. If just a hammer is all you need why do so many people use a tool that essentially pushes it out?

yes just a few taps with the Hammer and they pop out. don't whack the control arm or the ball joint but you hit the spindle, steering knuckle or any housing that is holding your ball joint where the ball joint goes in. the vibration will pop the ball joint out.
