Default Lower door molding pulling away

A few months ago, I noticed the lower molding on my driver's door starting to get "wavy" and pulling away from the door. It has worsened to the point where it is beginning to come off the 2 clips closest to the back door. Worse yet it is starting to happen on the other 3 doors now. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

My dealer's story is that they have only seen this when the molding gets caught on something when you open the door like a snow bank (I live in the snowy midwest). They claim this breaks a thin layer of plastic that protects the inner metal rail thereby allowing moisture to get in and corrosion to start. In my case this is hogwash because it is happening on all doors, and there is no way you can really catch the molding on the back doors. Plus, I would have had to catch all the door moldings on something at some point and I know that none of them have ever been caught like that.

Thanks,

Karl

Sorry to hear about this, it sounds like the same thing that happened to the molding on my 1991 Audi 90 after 5-6 years of Chicago winters. I eventually had them replaced. The mechanic (in whom I had confidence) explained to me about the metal clips/etc corroding. There's also a layer of glue goo that is hard to clean up; the new moldings hardly look better than the original.

If you are talking about the rubber pieces on the bottom of the door that sit against the sills, try removing the one from the drivers door to see if the clips have just slipped out or if they have broking off. It is easy to remove if you need help just email me.
