Default MAF problems 2001 K04 GIAC

I need to see if my MAF died yesterday. I just had the K04 Software reflashed into my old giac chip. I noticed a boost leak when i left Chicago. I fixed the boost leak and went to clear codes. when i did i saw a code with the MAF Signal to low. I know it worked fine before the software upgrade. Im using the ECS tuning 2.0 vw maf in place of the AWM maf.

If any one in Milwaukee is willing to swap out to check the codes.

colud it be the software?
or could the maf just die?
i thought they slowly went out like my old one.
any help

Dave

Default The code would be thrown if the leak was after the maf

which would cause a low reading during idle. The other issue could be that your ECS 2.0 liter maf will not read as high as the correct stock maf. You do understand that the maf you have now is for a NA motor? There is a reason Audi/VW puts the stock maf on your car and not the cheap $40 maf you have now. I am still trying to figure out why people pay so much for mods to make more power but yet when it comes to a maf they get all cheap and the maf is a part that keeps the car running correctly.

Default on block 002 the reading was .59-.64

the maf worked perfect up until the new software.

i went with info from this board saying that you can run the cheaper maf.

I will spend the money but not unnessicary money.

The leak that was fixed equal to a bad DV type leak.

Default full range of RPM

that was driving,I went around the block. and could not get any more than .64 g/s.

The car is not at full boost i can still see 15 PSI.

I Thought that these mafs were sensitive, but when my first MAF failed it was a would still read at most 90 g/s.

The reason i ask if the maf isnt compatible with the new giac software, or if i could have gotten a "bad program" my tuner say if the vag says maf then the maf must be bad.

I have heard of other k04 2001's not running right.

Thanks I was able to get the MAF Warrentied, Should I ditch the K&N Filter in favor of Stainless steel Mesh Cone with custom Heat sheild.

CEL cleared after the ecu recognized the new maf.

Default Nothing wrong with a K&N cone filter

as long as you dont over oil it. I have been using a K&N on my car for 3 years now and about 8 years on my 95 eclipse GST.

I Also Had a GST

I miss the ease of tuning a DSM.
