Maintenance schedule on underdriven 98.5
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased an Audi Assured 98.5 A4 2.8Q Tip Avant, and I'm loving it. It has 20,300 miles and was meticulously serviced and cared for by its previous owner. I have all the service records from the Audi dealership. While the car was under scheduled maintenance the following was done: 7500 mile service @ 1772 miles, 15000 mile service @ 4130, 22500 mile service @ 5402 miles, 30000 mile service @ 8087 miles, 37500 mile service @ 9068 miles and 45000 mile service @ 11110 miles. The previous owner drove the car an average of 10 miles per day. When I plugged the service record into Excel, I also computed the mileage the car *should* have if it were driven the standard 15,000 miles per year. It turns out that each service was done based on this schedule, rather than actual miles on odometer. Based on this computation, the car should be ready for its 60K service which includes the timing belt change. My question is: Should I continue with this schedule, or use actual odometer miles to determine when to do the 60K and later.
Thanks in advance,
GoldAudi

use the odometer for a few reasons...
one being warranty will not replace your timing belt until it is scheduled (due to the labor involved) and they'll want to do a full "nose job" which replaces the belts, rollers, thermostat, etc.
Also, part wear with miles, more so than age, especially moving parts (Ex. a water pump won't go bad if it hardy ever runs) so go by the miles. scheduled maintenance goes by miles in most cases.

I have the same situation, and here's what my dealer said
My A4 is a 99.5 2.8Q with 6,200 miles on it and 1 year left on my factory warranty (The car had already had already had 2 maintanance service appointments based on even fewer miles than yours.) I talked to the service people at my Audi dealership. They want me to come back at 10,000 (which would normally be only an oil change) and they will actually bump the mileage up to qualify me for the 15,000 mile service which is more extensive. They said they are going to schedule service based on months rather than mileage so that I can get more service on the remaining warranty and that they can actually get the car at least in sync by its date.

That's probably because they want your business ...
and they know if your warranty is up, you might bring it somewhere cheaper to get the work done. Call me a cynic, but business is business and everybody wants your money.
and what do you mean "bump up the miles" and "car in sync" you just don't need to replace something that does not need replacing/fixing. the only reason would be, as you said, warranty coverage and convenience.
