I'll trade your Ingolstadt for Stuttgart!

Default Have you ever been? Stuttgart is an awful city... dark and gray. very industrial.

Not worth it just to see Porsche and Mercedes factories.. Well maybe, but only if you happen to be in the area.

Default Munich is beautiful... But as I stated, it's a bit of a hike across the country ...

to get to places such as Stuttgart and Frankfurt, and even farther to Nurburg..

The good news is, Hockenheim is an easy drive from Munich, and an equally fun visit.

Plan to visit Heidelberg too, it's a beautiful city , and they like Americans there. They have a neat tour of the Schloss too.

Of course, while in Munich, you HAVE to go to Neuschwanstein if you like castles. You just do.

Between Munich and Frankfurt is Nurnberg, which is also worth a stop.

Default I would go just for the Porsche factory!

I wouldn't care if it looked like Newark NJ!

Default We did that last year. It all depends on what you are interested in....

We did Marksburg Castle on the way to the Ring. If you are interested in doing a Ring Taxi ride in addition to tourist laps, make the reservation ASAP. They were booked when we tried. Also check the Nurburgring website for their tourist lap hours. They are generally only at select times. Many days they have a short window at the end of the day for an hour or so, but we planned our trip to arrive so we could be there on a Sunday when laps were allowed all day. After the Nurburgring, since we have a WWII buff in the family, we saw Bastogne and did the Army museum in Brussels. Made our way to Amsterdam.

The kids loved the trip we are going back this March. this time we are planning on starting out in Munich (BMW tour and Deutche Museum) then to Ingolstadt (Audi) then we will head south through Austria into northern Italy to Modena (Ferrari) and end up in Milan for the Da Vinci Museum.
