Default Maryland Emissions Inspection on my 2.8Q

Hey ...

Does anyone have experience with running a quattro transmission through emissions testing? Or any other dyno inspection? Anything I should look out for? Any way I can get out of this?

I don't want some stupid Maryland government worker who didn't have to get their high school diploma to f*ck my transmission up.

Took my Chevy truck for inspection last week. The moron stopped the truck and threw it into park while the dyno wheels were still doing 9 mph! That's how bad it is.

Your experiences and ideas welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Brad

Default If you tell 'em you have full time AWD they won't dyno it.

They'll just read the emissions in neutral at a pre-determined rpm.

Default Depends on the state.

With the abundance of 4WD vehicles, more states are investing in AWD dynos. Make sure that IF they dyno the car, it's a 4WD dyno. If they attempt to dyno the car on a 2WD dyno, the results will be pretty obvious (NJ attempted to do this with my car...as well as dyno the front wheels on the rear wheel drive car in front of me in the inspection line...*scary*).

If they don't have a 4WD dyno, then they will do what BLULYNR said (idle sniffer test).

Last time I passed the emissions inspection they didn't use the roller (because it is a 4WD). I just press the gaz pedal in the park position.

Default Yup. Some have a 4 wheel dyno....

if they do, there'll be a bay specifically for 4WD vehicles. When I went I didn't notice it until too late and then the line was too big so I just stayed in the one I was in, not a problem, they just did the sniffer, no dyno.

Default Passed

They tried to put me on their AWD dyno ... but right before they started the test, the manager saw that the wheel guides were going to scrape my rims off. So they pulled the car off and just did the tail pipe sniff.

Thanks again for calming me down.

Best regards,
Brad
