Default maximum bore for an ATW block? archives say 83.5mm is safe (more)

but are the risks worth the extra .5mm for each cylinder or should i just plan to go with 83mm bore?
TIA

Default mike hood has been running 83.5 on his block for a long time

and apparently hasn't had any issues.

i don't know of anyone else doing it though.

i remember somone else only reccomending 83.

after actually seeing a block in person with 81mm bore, there's hardly any material there to begin with! I'm not going over 83.

Default you could buy a 2nd block for cheap...

RJ on motorgeek is selling one for cheap... but he is east coast not west coast.

http ://www.motorgeek.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=178904&highlight=#178904</a

Default Not yet...

My buddy got his V8 bored/honed locally and they charged him $200 for just that. Plus $195 to balance, $75 to hot tank/scrub block, and about $100 in other polishin/cleaning type things. then $450 to assemble, check clearences, etc.

Default thats a great deal. i would jump on it if i were ready to start the buildup. im still researching

i wanted to do the 2L ABA block with an AEB head and BT but after running some numbers im thinking an 83mm bore forged rods stock crank and other goodies with a GT30R and 034 IIc.

on your Ti20 is it the ABA crank that helps you acheive the two liters or does the AEB allow for a larger bore over an ATW?

any info is great and ill search for your past blogs too, thanks

Default you and I have the same block, same that Mike Hood does, its an 058 block

The AEB and ATW bottom end is the same... the cylinder head differs.

The 92.8mm stroke is necessary to achieve a displacement greater than 1.9L. The extra 6.4mm of stroke is necessary.
