So I recently has a GIAC chip and a K&N filter installed and lost about 10 MPG. After some digging by the dealer, they tell me that the K&N filter oil has contaminated the MAS and it now reads incorrectly, and this is causing the mileage loss, and guess what, it's not covered under the warranty.
So any thoughts on what to do now, other than replacing the MAS out of my pocket. ?
Has anybody had this problem ?

If the maf reading is low then the car would be getting less fuel during wot making it run lean and get better gas mileage. During part throttle the 02 sensor would adjust the fuel trim anyway and it would all equal out.
The main reason for getting less mpg after getting a chip is that thing you call a right foot.
BTW the dealer is trying to bend you over for about $350 for a new maf. Best thing you can do is clean it and have someone run a vag on it to see what your readings are for the maf you have now.
