Misfiring... was misfiring before changing plugs, and now it continues. Multiple cylinders.

Plugs are properly torqued, gapped, etc. I would lean towards a coil or ICM, but it's on multiple cylinders. Thoughts?

I had the same thing happen after an engine rebuild. The coils were fine before I pulled the Motor but after re installation, I got about 16 codes. The all were caused by 2 bad coils. I replaced those two and a third failed that week. If it turns out to be your coils I would replace them all. Autozone has them for $32 and they have VAG stamped on them.

coil pack. It's those transistors (well, the wiring to them) that have the tendency to fail.

so I swapped the coil on cyl 3 with the one on 4. Cleared the codes with vag-com but the same code came back. So I ended up replacing the ICM. Originally went to a local dealer and was quoted over $300 for it. Almost laughed at them. Got it at autohausaz.com for about $130 or so. There's also a good writeup on how to test the ICM. Do a search if you need it. My car is am early 99 A4 1.8TQM.
