When that CHF gets hot it thins and lets the pump produce even more heat, damaging seals, a viscous cycle. (excuse the viscosity pun) I think a thicker fluid with more friction, pressure and wear additives, like Dexron would keep the pump better lubed and cooler. Dex is commonly used, but Mobil 1 ATF will have the volitility and cold flow to operate perfectly. I'd rather see people try using strait Mobil 1 than refill with CHF, but in no way is topping with Mobil 1 a problem. It's too bad some guys will freeze-up and rather run dry than use a non-oem fluid from all the fear-mongering. If needed to drive, regular Dex, 20/30 weight motor oil, anything up to and including baby oil will work. It's just best to know which one is best. (skip the baby oil)

to you to learn it all?
you seem to enjoy contoversy, but I like the fact that you can give some kind of suggestion to a product i dont need to order online and wait 5 days for. The problem is, no others really seems to agree or disagree for that matter. Makes the decision process tough.

After 15 Audis of my own, family cars and tweaking my Dad/s porsche from the age of 14, I picked up on a few things and honestly, common sense too. Underhood lube fluids have more in common than people think, and really only in extremes are they not understandable and interchangeable. fwiw, bobistheoilguy.com has a lot of smart guys who research and debate this stuff. I recommend the General and OT forums. My educational background is History and Sociology of Science, so Tribology is interesting and fun to learn for me. Zero chem backgrounsd.
