Default mod chips for A4

Sorry to ask a stupid question here (new here...) but what kind of chip upgrades can be done to a 1.8t, 2.8 12v, and 2.8 30v? I've heard of stages of upgrades and things, but I am totally confused... anyone give me any clue and the performance gains to the three above engines? I know the answer will probably run long, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Default Re: mod chips for A4

1.8Ts can have three stages of Chips, 0.8 bar, 1.0 bar and 1.1 bar. From the factory 1.8Ts come @ about 0.48 bar. The engine can easily handle 1.1 bar(which is about the limit of the turbo).

0.8 bar will produce ~180HP and 210ft-lb torque.
1.0 bar will produce ~195HP and 240ft-lb torque.
1.1 bar will produce ~205HP and 255ft-lb torque.

As for the 12v and 30v engines the chip will make a minimal(5-12HP) difference, basically just getting rid of the "deadzone" between 3500-4700RPM.

Chips range in price from about $150-$500 depending on engine, tuner, and boost level.

Default I'm not sure that 12v 2.8's are chippable, just 30v's I think.

Default Re: P.S. Here is a list of Chip makers...one correction

I was at Nuespeed today. They are primarily selling only 1 Bar chips now as opposed to the .8's and they do have the DBW chips in stock.
