Modding a leased car!?!
Does anyone out there mod their leased car? I have a 2001 A4 1.8T. I really want to do some mods to the car, but it is going back in 2 years. Does anybody else mod their cars and then return them to stock once they go back to the dealer?

Sure! If you want do do something like that.
Some dealerships don't care about modds, but if you leave them in the car when you turn it in, you lose it. Modds in no way increase the resale to the dealership. Another thing to consider, do you really want the hastle of paying for modds and then paying for their removal and then dealing with selling them?

I'm leased and moded.....
I've put on a different suspension, changed the rotors, pads, and brake lines. Short shifter. 4 point harnesses (I'll probably take those out). I'm currently working out the details on cooling ducts which will probably mean cutting some holes in my front lower valance and my dust shields.... And more to come probably! I figure it's no use to pay all this money for a car and not enjoy the experience. Half the fun is tinkering around.
I too am curious what will happen when I return the car, but I'd think as long as I'm getting another Audi, and the mods aren't too outragous the dealer won't complain much.

No way..that is against the law
NOT...tons of us have modded leased cars...it just means you have to sell it before the lease is out..with or without mods...or take off the mods before you turn back in the car at the end of the lease. I sold my leased A4 with some mods on it.

I have leased 2.8Q
There isnt too much to do without paying installation and deinstallation costs twice. I have really minor stuff. You can change the wheels. Buy an exhaust tip (mines from LLTek). Change the grill. I know I feel the pain that you do. Maybe next time Ill buy. We'll be able to mod the new model, maybe that sport model or S4 will be out by them and they will have painted the lower body!!! (What were they thinking with that???)

There are lots of options
Instead of turning the car in, buy it out at the end of the lease. You can immediately resell it (often for a profit) or trade it in if you'd like to get a new car.
It's a little more hassle, but worth it because you don't need to worry about mods, paint chips, mileage, etc. like you would if you were turning it in.
