Default Re: so what kind of work you gonna do to it?

1.9 60fts are dope. Keep on beating on the car and see what happens. 1.8 might not be out of the question. MPH will get lower with better 60fts, but the ET will get better. Have fun with the vr6, it doesnt get much better than an a2 with VR6 Power.

Default we're working with what we have.. which is a VR6

plus, we already have 2 1.8Ts (The A4 and the Jetta) so we don't really feel like having yet another one

Default yeh thats me ;)

Seriously, a turbo g60 in a light body car like that would be purrfect. You need to remember that low end torque is going to light up the wheels like made unless you syncro that puppy.. The best possible motor would be a big honkin turbo on a scirocco 16V.. Just enough low end torque to keep the wheels planted and run a fatty 1/4 mile..

My old pos motor made 214whp and 239ft/lbs (at the wheels) before she gave up on the 8v. Makes my chipped a4 seem quite anemic...

Default if you mean easier then a 1.8T swap

then you are way off. A 1.8T swap is pretty much one of the easiest swaps you can do. You can keep all the stock mounts, stock trans, stock shifter. Just drop in the block, run some plumbing for the boost tubes and wire it up.

To do a VR6 you need to drop the motor in, find a new radiator, new trans, new pedals, new shifter, new master cylinder, wire it up, shave motor mounts, new front subframe, new main subframe. Takes a lot more work, but riht now from an economical stand point if you look at the BBS wheel in the corner of the first pick, that has a nice 55K mile VR6 motor donor right now, that is already paid for and damn cheap I might add.
