Motor Oil weight for continuous hot climate?

we have a few solid people here in the audi crew. not nearly as big as norcal though

at least not all of these Euro and diesel/truck types. Anything that needed a 40 weight was typically 10w40 or 15w40 and thought to be way too heavy for a 1.8T back in 1997+ since everyone was using M1 0w30 back then like it was the next best thing since sliced bread. some were using 15w50. now, imo, there are finally some good Euro spec and diesel/truck spec 5w40 oils out there and that's what we all should be using. As far as using 10w30 for you, it should be fine in HI since you don't see winter temps, which your high temps year round would want me to use a 40 weight oil though. but, as long as you're not seeing oil temps over 250F daily, then it's fine. I just know that in my car, in the dead heat of summer with 90-100F+ days with the a/c on while playing, I can get my stage 3 version of my car to break 250F on the street fairly easily even with M1 5w40. I was never able to do that so easily with an X chip K03 (used M1 0w40). IMO, a stage 3 car should run an oil cooler out front, which is on my to do list.
