I'm thinking of the MTM stage 1, but thought keeping the stock chip would be a good idea. I'd like to have it around in case of problems with my car. I figure if I put it in before sending the car to the dealer, there will be no fuss over the warranty.
I know how much the MTM stage 1 costs, but is there and how much is the security deposit for returning the stock chip?
I've been looking for an answer, but there are so many MTM posts in the archive.
Thanks!

The price is $595 (per their May '99 price list). It doesn't say anything about the deposit. I think they just hold your credit card number (no charge applied if you return the ecu in time), but I'm not sure. I'm planning on haveing mine done at a dealer. Give them a call at (941)924-6380 (I think, might be 8380). Let us know what they say.
Regards,
Rodney
'99 A4 1.8tqms

They sell them both ways. New ECU with modified chip, and they will upgrade your chip if you send it to them. The person I spoke to did no know the price of the new ECU, but took my name and number and will me call back on Tuesday morning. I'll post if I find out more.
Thanks again.

Sounds like to me every other chip tuner is struggling to catch up with the system APR started! MTM, Autothority, Garret just to name a few who have been scrambling around to offer the same thing. Just an abservation
99A4 1.8tq
