I understand that the MTM 187 hp upgrade (stage 1)is only a chip, while the 210 hp upgrade (stage 2)is a chip and a replacement exhaust....is the chip the same one in both cases, or is it a different one?

The programming on the Stage 2 is more aggressive, but they won't let you upgrade from Stage 1 to Stage 2 unless you buy THEIR exhaust (which imho is waaaay over-priced, considering the alternatives on the market).

If you're planning on just a Stage 1, I recommend the chip...the power is addictive. You can't compare those numbers to GIAC or APR's published numbers. The numbers won't tell you the whole truth. You have to drive it.

I have a stage 1, and am trying to figure out what needs to be changed to go to stage 2....do I need a stage 2 chip and the exhaust, or just the exhaust ?....obviously it has cost implications.

new chip, down pipe, cat-back exhaust.

Getting the stage 2 chip has a little more impact (so I've been told).

What you should NOT do is the stage 2 chip with a stock exhaust.
