i have a quattro. do you have to remove all the brakes or does that 2-bolt carrier bracket come off with everything in tact?

someone must've encountered this before

Default You need to remove the carrier. It's two bolts

Taking off the caliper makes it easier as it is also a two-bolt job.

remove caliper, remove carrier, replace rotor, install carrier, install caliper.

Done!

wasn't that easy

Default i suppose!

i think you're right. i now remember many years ago trying to take the 'short cut' and it made the job longer than if i removed the calipers.
thanks bud.

Default No problem

Last time I did it I seem to recall it made the bolts easier to get to.

It really is an easiy DIY project. figure 30 minutes a side.

Default Yes, two bolts for the caliper, two for the lock carrier

The rotor can often rust to the hub too. My solution for that was to spray the backside with Liquid Wrench, let it soak for 2-3 minutes, then beat the living **** out of it from the back. My left side was rusted on, the right side fell right off. Go figure.
