Hey everyone...

Well, the first mod I'm going to do is put a system in my car. I plan on keeping the head unit (symphony) because it fits and looks nice. The guy (he installed equiptment on our hummer, did a nice job) quoted me 2300 for the following system (includes 325 for tax/labor):

JL Stealth box with JL Audio 250 Watt Mono Amp
4" MB Quart front speakers
6.5" MB Quart rear speakers
JL Audio 150 watt X 2 power amp

I personally think 2300 is way too much. I was thinking more like 1000 i want to spend.

What do you guys think? I really don't want to spend tons and I do not want to go anywhere near competition. Something that sounds good. I listen to everytype of music, so def. need bass and better speakers.

I know the stealth boxes need mods in trunk to fit in the MY 00+ vehicles, but there a couple for sale in the classifieds. I would be able to save some money and get that used. BUT, would that be a risk? don't know much about used speakers. Would I need to find out any info (besides if it is blown?)?

For those that have put a system in their car, what was your experience/ favs/ cheap but good quality.

Of course, I thank all of you AWers for ruining my life because this is all I do now 8-p

That amp is around 4 or 500, as for speakers, they are probably fair priced...and labor is expensive

i need to replace my rear speakers too, and am thinking about getting a pair of MB Quart. what model u gonna get?

The MY 2000 and up A4's have to be modified as the left side of the trunk is different.

How much and what do they exactly have to cut?

They are 6.5" MB Quart Autobahn Co-Axial, running off a 250 watt JL Audio mono amp

Ok, on the left side, older A4's had an indent on the left of the trunk where the speaker pod goes. Well the My2000 and up A4 has a flat left wall. So he'll have to cut a hole that indent so that the speaker can mount properly. I've seen it done, it's not that bad, I just didn't want to cut my car.

It doesn't affect the trunk at all, does it? The trunk still won't leak or fall apart or anything, right?

If I were to get a stealthbox, there are a couple for sale over in the classifieds... you think that would be a good deal, or should I get a brand new one (difference between new vs. used)...

Oh yeah... we pretty much have the same exact car! Well, minus all the mods... 8-p
