my AEB 1.8T is eating coolant at an alarming rate.. any ideas?

Can you smell the coolant when the car is warm? I know when the end tanks...
on mine was leaking I could smell the coolant but I couldn't actually find the leak. The end tank drivers side I just barely noticed the pink by the fan shroud.
Side note after dismantleing the radiator the radiator passageways were clean.
