Default My AWE DTS is hitting the frame and causing lots of vibrations. I no longer have my original...

POS thing that came on the car(non-DTS under body stabilizer bar thing that was in its place). When it was the only drivetrain upgrade I had, it helped alot. But I have pretty serious mounts the rest of the way around so I dont think the DTS alone is doing much anyway. Can I just take it all out and just put the 2 long bolts back in on either side or are they gonna be too long without the stock DTS thing there? Should I just removed the rubber block connecting the tranny to the DTS and just run it as an under body stabilizer bar? Anyone done this before or run no bar at all? I hear the stock ones rot pretty easy, so I would guess it isnt doing much.

TIA, Lew

Default What do you mean by "hitting the frame"? Where?

Other than where it mounts, not sure where it would hit? FWIW, '98 and older A4's did not have the cross bar part.

Default PICS (cellphone warning)

Looks like the steel frame is winning over the aluminum DTS.

OEM bar is just a flimsy piece so without it is nothing

not worried about stiffness, its acts like a washer/spacer, would the bolts be too long without it?

Should be OK without anything there. My FWD does not had anything there originally

Hmmm, don't think mine come that close. I'd just get a die grinder and create some space.

Default You can see the pounding is creating space. haha. Thought of griding it but I dont have one and...

if it comes to the point where its all the way out and the vibs are gone and my drivetrain is still stiff, its not gonna go back in. Not worth griding it and putting it back in just to say I have a DTS bar installed. Like I said, cant imagine its doing a whole lot anymore. I might just sell it.

Default I take it back, my FWD does not had an OEM bar across but it did has a triangle aluminum plate....

where the long bolts go. But the plate very thin so I guess you need a washer there.

except to hold the subframe up in place. earlier cars didn't have the bar between the plates.
