Default well, I'm thinking if I drop the exhaust, remove the cat, and ......

remove the flange from the turbo, I can then take the cat and the flange to get welded and put everything back.

One other question. I drove about 4 miles to get home, would this have any impact on anything with the turbo and cat being exposed like that?
thanks guys.

Default i wouldn't worry about it too much...

with 4 miles, you're exhaust spewing out before the cat, you just released some 'dirty' gas that's all.

I realize that I'm talking to myself, but I found quite a bit in the archives on this.

Isn't that a warranted emissions part failure? 8 years or 80k mi according to my owner's manual...

Default Have you checked you exhaust hangers?

Perhaps one broke loose, causing the exhaustto shake around and break the cat.
