My car is driven at low RPM's for about 3 minutes before I am on the highway every morning (5:20 am)

....is this bad for the car? I still don't take it over 3000 rpms, but I'm worried that I might be doing something bad by not letting the car warm up.....opinions?
Also, a real stupid question...I park my car next to the vent where the washer/dryer sends the steam outside, and it is blowing directly on my car (front end...near tire)...this wouldn't do anything, would it?
I'm really not dumb,

Start car, idle for 30 seconds/1 minute, then drive like a nancy and keep the rmps below 3000 to sloooowly bring the whole car up to temp. Do not take over 3000 rmps until the oil temp starts to come up out of the basement.

Start the car, idles about 30 seconds as I set up the ipod, seat belt in my laptop, etc. Drive under 3500rpm with no boosting over 5psi peaks until the oil needle starts to move... once I am over 150, I get on it. I am 1/2 mile from the on ramp to the expressway...

As for warming up... I keep the engine speed below 3K until the oil temp goes above 150. After that I drive like normal.

If you drive the car short distance, and oil temp is less than 175 do you need to let the car idle..
