Default Re: Dude they can't do that $hit to you...you pay taxes :-) LOL seriously though

I think they towed the car with the front wheels up through a system that lifts the wheel off the ground in a cradle rather than touching anything on the bottom or frame of the car. The bad thing is that they must have opened my car since the parking break was on and the car was in 1st gear and now it was in neutral when I found it, at least I thought I left it in 1st gear. How did they tow the car with the back wheels on the ground with the parking break on?

Default That's easy, they reached under your car and grabbed your linkage, shifted it out of first.

I've done that before.... can't exactly remember why though, but I have

Default Well if they popped you out of first and disconnected the e-brake

then that means they pulled a Quattro car w/o a flat bed more the likley which is NOT good :-( they can damage the Quattro differential if they tow if for any real distance or at any real speeds...bummin, I'd consider a lawyer.

Regards,

Default Tomorrow

Tomorrow I plan on consulting a lawyer. I need to find the most agressive/vicious lawyer in NYC, otherwise the local government will carry this on forever. I really am sick and tired of how the government can destroy someone's property and get away with it under the auspices that they won't have to worry about being sued. I'm guessing that they popped the car out of first and disconnected the e-brake, but they still towed it with the rear wheels on the ground. Regardless of the fact that it was about 5-10 blocks I still want to see everything that could have possibly been damaged replaced. I just don't know which lawyer would be the best to consult with. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Default I remember reading somewhere..

that the film industry is New York's single biggest industry. I forget, but its like first or second place in the city. You wouldn't think that. In any event, it means a lot of money for the city. I suppose the police department will do almost anything if the film people wave a load of money in front of their faces.

But yes, usually the city posts signs a few days in advance warning the residents. I once saw Dustin Hoffman film a movie near where I lived on the West Side. They went through a lot of trouble just to film a little 2 minute scene of the movie.
