My car has developed a strange rattle at about 4k rpms.......

almost sounds like lifter clatter, but it's clearly coming from the back of the car. It occcurs under WOT at about 3.5k-4.5k rpm, in any gear. Does not change depending on whether the car is warmed up or not.

Since it's not coming from under the hood I'm not too worried. Maybe it's just a new noise my exhaust is making. Any ideas?

sounds like exhaust or hangers or heat sheild

My car has a hideous rattle, from the exhaust, but I get it at much lowerRPMs

it seems to be related to the resonance of the engine.. When you get your rattle, does the engine seem to be more resonant than other points in the rev band?
