"Seamless stainless tubing is a material & product that is very susceptible to 'work hardening'. Each bend & each flaring operation produces a harder microstructure. The (double) flare on the tube is often so inflexible that it will not conform to the male inverted flare on the fitting, and sealing will be poor unless the approach angle is dead-nuts on.
Normal carbon steel brake lines a made by double-wrapping cold rolled steel sheet with a full overlapping seam, then copper furnace brazing and annealed to a dead soft condition. Once coated with a zinc-rich plating or with 'Terne' (lead + tin alloy), the bends and flares are much 'softer' and more forgiving, and tend to seat easier."
