My car smells like ski wax?

Wierd question,
I have a 2000 A4 1.8T, no engine mods, 13550 miles. Recently the weather has been a bit warmer and everytime I drive the car it smells like burning ski wax. Like when you melt wax with an iron. I have snow tires on it, but I can't imagine they are smelly. I have been driving normal (ie not at all aggressive).
The car is running fine, I just wondered if anyone else has this wierd problem or if anyone has any suggestion about what to do to attempt to stop this...
Thanks in advance....
ToddM

Audi dips their chassis in wax as a rust-proofing measure. Perhaps this is the source - although I would have thought that you would have smelt it long before now
