my clutch smells
i made the mistake of letting my friend drive my car. 2000 a4q 2.8 5spd. he backed up this hill with the clutch half out and the engine was revved up to probably 4000 or 5000 rpm. ever since i can smell the clutch(about two weeks). it seems to drive normal but the smell is always there. i have had the car for five years and have never smelled this. any advice would be appreciated. except advice to not let my buddy drive my car, i learned that one already.
thanks in advance

He roasted your clutch. If it still smells, he probably took 15K miles
off the life of the clutch. Just drive normally. If you feel the clutch slipping under heavy load, back off the accelerator. The clutch is glazed, and it will take a while before you regain full holding power. The smell will linger for a while...normally it would subside in two weeks, but it looks like he did a number on it.

what RKA said
I've been there done that...when I was trying to race one time. I think it took a month before I couldn't smell clutch. Could have been a little longer. Your buddy just glaized the clutch. I tried to keep my driving confined to about 3K for a month to let it "heal". I have done it twice to my clutch so far and mine is still OK and since I have upgraded to the K04 & FMIC...etc. Just take it easy on it for a while.
