Default My dashboard information screen died !!!

Hi,

The screen in the middle of the dashboard (the one that tells the temp, mpg, etc) started to drop pixel lines. It started with only two, but now its unreadable. Each time I start my car there are diffenrent dead pixeles (and some that were dead and now are showing). I went to the workshop and they say that I have to change the whole dashboard ( +$3000) just to fix it !!

Anyone else had this problem and found a solution??

Thanks

P.S. its a 2000 1.8t FWD Tiptronic

I'd say live with it. It's amazing that Audi never fixed this common problem

Default First, tell the workshop to go and f%ck themselves: this repair doesn't cost $3k

Second, no one yet has figured out a solution to this common problem except to replace the instrument cluster (not the whole dashboard).

Default My car has the same issue - it appears to be a age thing as I only have 40K on my car.

I think you can get these displays for $300 to $700 depending on the source. If you look in the tech section you can see how to replace it yourself. You will need a VAG-com to reset the odometer

Default Mine did the same thing when it had only 7000 miles. It was still under warranty its just the...

gauge cluster that has to be replaced. some places sell them for $250 look in the tech section. You can do it yourself its not hard. I have a 2001.5 I got the S4 gauges because I like the red with white needles.
