Default do you think 50k is a long life for that?..

I think the people blowing up k04s and bt's are the same ones that blow up stock turbos in 10k. its all how you drive. those of us who get 100k or more out of a k03 probably won't have an issue with the k04/bt, cause we don't have to mach10 it everywhere we go. i remember talking to a guy with a 225tt who was on his 3rd k04 with under 80k. think maybe he'd realize its him and not the turbo.

If you can stand rebuilt, GPop-Shop has them for around $500.

Default word, perhaps it's ATPs tuning?

perhaps they aren't controlling EGTs effectively and things are getting hotter than they should, hence you coking problem. That's the only thing I can think of..

Default you are comparing apples to oranges here.

1) Nobody buys a stage 3 kit for turbo longevity, as thier main focus. Many of the owners track thier cars, and any track event will tax a car much harder than everyday driving. The fact that Mark B's old car had the turbo last 50K with the *numerous* amount of track time he had on it is a testament to how well the kit is built.

Default The difference is $25 shipped

750 for a GT28R and 725 for a K04.

This is where I got my currenty 28R, best pricing, and great service.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ctsturbo.com/turbochargers.php">CTS turbo</a></li></ul>

see my post above, I can't help wonder if it's a EGT related issue.

Default they're not cooled by coolant?

are you sure about that, they're only cooled by oil? and they are also non BB?

If there are no coolant jackets and really high EGTs (like north of 1600 F) that could be a cause for the coking.

The GT2X is ONLY oil cooled/lube and is NOT ball bearing.

See below, yes I'm sure and yes you're correct 100%. An EGT gauge is A MUST w/these.
