17535 - Fuel Trim; Bank 1 (Mult): System too Rich
P1127 - 35-00 - -
The story goes, last week I did something stupid and added STP Carborator & Fuel Injector cleaner when filling my tank with 93 octance fuel. Almost immediately, I began getting the above engine diagnostic code from my ECU. Resetting it hasn't helped, it will come back on again almost immediately. It is always Bank 1 and always too rich (this means too much fuel, right?).
I was hoping this was just a side effect of using the STP cleaner, but when I refilled this week, the diagnostic code is still coming on immediately! Maybe I actually ruined a fuel injector by using this stuff? Any other thoughts?
To test the hypothesis that a fuel injector in bank 1 has gone bad, how difficult would it be for me to swap the Bank 2 fuel injectors with Bank 1, to see if the code moves to Bank 2? What preparations do I have to do to before taking them out, such as how do I eliminate fuel and pressure in the lines? Any other thoughts on how to identify if I now have a bad fuel injector? (all fuel injectors appear to actuate fine under the output diagnostic test, so the electrical part of the system seems to be all okay).
Much appreciation for your thoughts and advice.

well remove them carefully but I find it better if you use petrolium jelly on the seals when installing them. As for the fuel pressure I just remove them Audi does not seem have a fuel pressure release valve like the E46 BMW's do.
I usually remove the fuel tank cap but I don't think I've seen less pressure by doing that.

17536 - Fuel Trim Bank 1 (Mult) System too lean
P1128-35-10 - Intermittent
I added a bottle of Chevron Fuel treatment last week when I filled up, and have gotten the above code twice. I have filled up again since then and cleaned my MAF....waiting to see if it comes back.
Here's the ross-tech wiki info for code 1736 (I did not see a listing for 17535
17536/P1128/004392 - Fuel Trim; Bank 1 (Mult): System too Lean
Possible Symptoms
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) active
Possible Causes
Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor faulty
Oxygen Sensor Control faulty
Oxygen Sensor(s) faulty
Fuel Injector(s) faulty
Possible Solutions
Check Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor
Check Oxygen Sensor Control
Check Oxygen Sensor(s)
Check Fuel Injector(s)
Also, I have a writeup in the tech section re:removing fuel injectors (for a 1.8) - it is no big deal. Look for crud buildup, bad seats / O-rings. Or send them out to get bench cleaned, I did that last year...I think @$100 at New Era Performance Parts
