Stick with a paper filter and don't waste your money on a bunch of chips that will make only a minor difference in performance. Do the exhaust if you must, but understand that you will be getting lots of loud and not much fast.

Staying stock is going to be your best bet, especially on a slushbox.

Enjoy!

The 2.8 is what it is; a good workhorse. Simple preventive maintenance should suffice to keep it running for beellions of miles. lol
But seriously, just accept the engine for what it is and you should be happy. Most of us are speaking from experience when we tell you to stay stock.

This just blows my mind LOL this has got to be the only car that is not better off with upgrades. I appreciate all of your guys input. I'm still gonna do an exhaust system simply for the growl and I'm gonna try and get a vagcom setup and recode the transmission as was suggested. I guess ill just spend my cash makin it look better and put in some nice speakers. don't know what else to do

Well keep in mind that this is around 168 naturally-aspirated cubic inches moving a fairly hefty car, so actually the engine is pretty strong at 190 HP all things considered, and you've got both automatic trans and Quattro, about the heaviest of the bunch.

oh i agree, 190hp isnt bad at all, i am in now way complaining. even though its a heavy car its still one of the best cars iv ever owned im just saying theres gotta be somethng i can do to hit the 200hp mark with out forced induction. but all in all im very happy with the 2.8, its a good little motor so far.

You can probably/maybe hit the 200hp mark with a chip and good exhaust, but that is alot of $$$ for very little reward. Best is to keep it in perfect tune and do the 00010 tranny recode to get the most out of the little engine that could.

If you really need more power then you could sell the A4 and go for a S4
