Is my stereo had amp or not? 98.5 A4 non-Bose. Can I just hook up another HU speaker ......

Are you asking if you car uses the head unit or an amp to run your speakers?
If so yes you have a factory amp I have the same car as you with a non bose stereo and it had a factory amp powering the speakers

the amp is in the rear speakers
I would bet that when you install the new HU, you'll get sound out of the front speakers (which have no amp built in) but not out of the rear. My installer had to cut into the factory wiring harness to get the rears working, but I think he was an idiot. I believe it can be done without mangling the factory harness, but I don't know how.
