My Stoptech Brakes just paid for themselves...no accident today

Let me just first say, I HATE MASSACHUSETTS DRIVERS! Okay, here goes.
Well, I was wondering how my brakes would perform when it really came down to it and I did find out today. I was coming down a two lane road towards a section where it splits to go straight and another way to merge onto another road. So I was in the left lane speeding up trying to merge into the right lane (during heavy traffic both lanes *can* merge onto the road) and thought I had it when some moron in a honda civic hatchback decides that they should switch from the far right lane to the left lane in order to go straight (NO turn signal of course!). This was of course at the absolute last minute and right before the median part separating the two lane choices. So there I am going at a good pace and pointed straight at the driver's door of the civic. So, without even looking behind me (thankfully there was no one there) I slam on my StopTechs to bring me to a halt. There is of course gravel there too so I did manage to slide a little in the process. Needless to say the brakes paid for themselves today as I didn't get in an accident. I am FOREVER gratefull I did this mod. Anyway, thats enough from me.
Here is a pic of the brakes again...they deserve the exposure today!

I commute in Mass every day too. At least once a day I have to do a panic stop (last alternative - no room to drive out of it) because some meathead pulls something like you described. I have gotten so used to my A8 rotor/EBC pad stopping ability that I almost dont get excited any more. Last week I had to drive the F250 in traffic for the first time in a good while and one of these demo derby snot boxes did the usual. The F250 doesnt react nearly as well as the A4 and the closeness of the near accident scared the crap out of me. I wouldnt be surprised if that driver had a mess to clean up later too, An F250 bumper and grill about to enter your driver window can cause certain reflex actions.
For comparison...I drove down to Hatteras and back 2 weeks ago and though the traffic in NY/NJ was much heavier, I didnt see nearly the degree of poor driving I see here in Eastern Mass.

Its an adventure.. Everyday I drive to work from Central MA down to Marlborough.. Always watching my rearview for some a$$hole or some lady doing her makeup in front of me driving a standard talking on a cell phone..
But I guess thats why I pay so much for insurance, not for me, but for everyone else around me!!
Good for you though, I am glad those brakes paid off..

It's definitely a good feeling to know that the $ money spent was worth every penny....and that there was no one behind you either. I guess I've become acustomed to people bad driving driving in this area all my life. It's even worse on a motorcycle...so beware if you get that R6! My CBR has seen the pavement unfortunetly. Don't let that comment deter you...just be careful...I need some people to ride with so go get the damn bike!
