My weekend project...
This weekend I embarked on a new project for my A4. I realized that the interior trim pieces in my 1.8T were just paint on aluminum. I started removing trim pieces and stripping the paint off using paint stripper, and have given my A4 a pretty killer new look. The most interesting thing I found is that the texture of the trim is all paint. Once the paint is removed, the pieces are smooth brushed aluminum!
I did the same thing years ago with my cannondale (aluminum framed) mountain bike, and the look has really held up with hardly any oxidation.
I'll be posting a FAQ later this week on the process of removing the trim pieces, stripping the paint, and replacing the trim.
In the meantime, I'll post a couple of shots of what I've done...

Re: My weekend project...
You've just won my award for A4 post of the year. I always wanted that exact silver look. I even bought the expensive Ltek aluminum trim set. I used & like the pieces by the radio & climate controls but the door & dash pieces were too thick looking & I put them on the door plates. Thanks for a great post & please inform the forum on how to remove the trim.
