Default Need advice on sunroof leak.

I washed my car Sunday and found a bit of water on the passenger seat. The sunroof was fully closed at the time.

I checked the four sunroof drain lines and they are draining properly. The water is dripping off of the sunroof switch panel and the headliner seems to be wet in the area around the switch/light/sunroof motor area.

Anyone have any experience with this sort of leak?

Robert Jordan

PS The entire sunroof was replaced a couple of years ago under warranty after it made some awful sounds and some bits of plastic fell out (nice).

Default not exactly same area... but, I had to have my rear window re-sealed because the

c-pillar was getting wet every time it rained.. Now (after the dealer messed with the seal) my front passenger side A-pillar seems to be getting wet? wtf... can't dealers do anything right?

Default Hmm... I had a sunroof leak after some body work. It was adjusted.

In the bentley, it shows how to adjust the sunroof. How do the seals of the sunroof look like? Mine are pretty worn, from the body shop guy buffing my whole car after repainting half of it.

What happens if you pour water into the drain holes? I take it your tried this already.

Pop the headliner out, take a peek. See where it's coming from?

Default I glanced through the Bentley and didn't find much that was helpfull...

The seals look fine at a glance, I'll check them out more carefully. As far as I can tell, the sunroof is adjusted o.k. (slightly lower in front, higher in rear) and I did check the sunroof drain holes for obstructions.

I'm thinking that the seal where the sunroof cassette mounts to the body has failed, or the bolts holding the sunroof motor may not be sealed properly.

Removing the headliner looks like a PIA and would require some help. I am puting off removing the headliner as a last resort.

As for buffing, I always open the sunroof to buff roof. It's easier than removing all that polish residue from the sunroof seals.

Thanks

Default I had that problem on a VW I used to own - had dealer replace the gasket around the panel...

and that fixed it.
