Default Need help allen bolt on driveshaft....

started on the clutch R&R this afternoon. Taking my time since some of the other parts won't be here until Friday. Almost ready to drop the trans, but I cannot get the last allen bolt on the rear driveshaft loose. It is all the way on the top where I cannot get an allen wrench to it and I have already broken two allen hex sockets on this one bolt.

Any suggestions???

Default Ya.

Jack up the rear end, take off the e-brake, put the car in gear and turn it.

Oh, and be careful not to strip it. If you do you'll want to shoot your self.

If you do strip the allen head, vice grips and heat will be your friend. =)

Suggestion: buy the triple square bit (it's not an allen).

Default I have the triple square 6,8,10,12mm. the rear driveshaft is a 6mm allen.

Afraid of heating that area up, even though I know that heat will help break the loctite.

Default well if you rotate the DS so the allen is easily accessible, heating the area will not be a problem.

I've done it many times when the bolts have been too beat up to remove with an allen key....just plan to replace the bolts with new ones.
