Default NEED HELP!!! ECU won't recode for Auto????

I just got a used ECU w/ Giac chip, and am trying to recode.

It for some reason had the code 07001 (FWD Manual) even though it supposedly came off of a quattro A4,

and I need to recode it to 07251 (Quattro Auto).

I can get it to accept a recode to 07201 (Quattro Manual)=, I just can't get it to take the 5 for auto????

I did all of the steps (I think) since it would let me recode to 07201????

Login w/ 11463 code then recode

The engine will start and idle fine, but I'm affraid to drive it with the "18020 - Engine Control Module Incorrectly Coded P1612-35-00" code it is giving me.

Any ideas? Am I screwed here? I realy would hate to have to sell this off if it won't accept Auto Trans.

New chipped ECU# 4B0 906 018 P

Default Umm .. isn't a 2000 a ATW ?

If so, Ishow the 'code ' wants to be:

Country / Exhaust
07 USA LEV (emissions regulation)
5 Front Wheel Drive (FWD) with ASR/ESP
7 All Wheel Drive (AWD) with Electronic
Stability Program (ESP)
0 5 speed manual transmision
5 Automatic transmission 01V
1 Audi A4

So you'd be looking for a 07751

My current ECU that I am replacing reads:
07251

According to a post I found the numbers mean:
07 USA
2 All-Wheel-Drive w/o Traction Controll (ASR)
5 Auto Trans, 01V
1 A4

Default Spose the Bentley's could be wrong. It has been before. What I posted was a 'paste' from the

Bentley's.

Default Well why don't you go try that code anyways?

I mean, it can't hurt.

Default the quattro is all mechanical so it doesnt matter if the ecu know its awd or fwd.

try 07051. i had the same problem with mine. ive been driving w/o the ecu knowing that i have quattro for a few months now.

Default Re: Well why don't you go try that code anyways?

I was afraid to drive it with the wrong code.

With the code for a manual in, the display in the cluster was wacked out a bit. The display showed all of the gears highlited, and when I went to shift into gear to see if it would show correctly, it was not a smooth engagement ( a prettey decent jerk when it engaged). At that point I shut it all down and came to you guys....

I don't want to screw something expensive up.

Default Turn the key on, don't start the car. Recode the ECU, turn the car off.

Turn the key again, don't start it, go into the ECU again with VAG-COM and take a look if the soft-coding has reverted to the other setting. if it hasn't, start it up and see if things are better.

If it's not taking that other code, it shouldn't hurt to try this one either.
