I have a 99.5 1.8T, manual, APR 1bar chip, about 30,000 miles and recently my idle is very irratic when I have the a/c on. a couple of times yesterday it went too low and the engine stalled. has anyone run into the same problem with their cars? this morning I pushed the recycle button the idle drop and the engine seemed like it almost stalled. what should the car be idling at with the a/c on? does this have to do with the chip? I've had the chip in almost a year but the problem just started.
thanks for the help.

I have a 99.5 1.8T - factory chip w/ 25k miles and I also noticed that the rpm at idle will dip slightly when having the a/c on. My car idles at about 900 rpm, maybe just a little higher. It dips to about 800-850 rpm once in a while with the a/c on.
The a/c puts a heavier load on the engine, and the engine needs alittle more gas to keep from stalling. My guess is that since the amount of extra gas delivered is so little, a 'dirty' fuel injection system could cause that little extra amount of gas from getting to the engine. Thus the engine stalls. You might want to try a fuel injection cleaner to see if that fixes the problem.
