Default Need help! Transmission died and dealers wants $8600!

I previously hit a pothole in NYC and broke the oil pan and the transmission fluids leaked. Went to Biener Audi in Long Island and replanced the oil pan and gasket and they refilled the tranny fluid and it was working for a while. Last Sat, the tranny just died on me and the car was towed to Biener and they told me the tranny is finally dead and said would cost me $8600 plus labor to fix. Any thoughts as to what I should do? Should I take it to another mechanic and get a second opinion? Or should I consider just trading the car in (that'd probably take a chunk out of my residual value)...please help as I am pretty clueless at this point. Thanks

Dealer isn't offering warranty because the tranny wouldn't have died if it didn't hit a pothole in the first place

Default eh.. then you file claim with the city and make them pay

If a pothole wrecked your tranny, then the city must pay.
