Default Need help from the VAG guys...

my car has been misfiring at idle ever since I bought it recently. It is only at idle and never while driving. Giving it a little gas at idle makes it almost disapear. Here are the codes I get

VAG-COM Version: Release 311.2-N

Control Module Part Number: 4B0 906 018 CH
Component and/or Version: 1.8L R4/5VT G 0001
Software Coding: 16701
Work Shop Code: WSC 10001
6 Faults Found:
16396 - Bank 1: Camshaft A (Intake): Advance Setpoint not Reached (Over-Retarded)
P0012 - 35-00 - -
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 35-00 - -
16685 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0301 - 35-00 - -
16687 - Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected
P0303 - 35-00 - -
16688 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected
P0304 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
16686 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
P0302 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

I have Genesis 430cc injectors, but this also happened when I had the green tops that came with the kit. Spark plugs have been replaced as well.

Anything I should log to try and determine why it is doing this? I am teh logging n00b though Please help a noob.

2001 1.8T PES T28

Thanks guys

Default Did you do a new timing belt lately

because it says there is a problem with the adv timing setpoint which would mean your timing belt is off or you have a problem with the cam sensor.

Default The previous owner had it changed right before he sold it to me.

Any way to tell if the problem is from the cam sensor or if it is a problem with the adv timing setpoint?

Anything I can log to know for sure?

Thanks for the help.

I thought the 2001's don't have an ICM.

Default They don't. I pulled the same code last week. I have a feeling it's the cam position sensor...for

me at least. One on there has 115k on it. I need to double check the timing belt just to be sure though. I only had it during the first cold temp startup though and am curious if it could be SAP related, since I don't have one.

Default My guess that mine is related to the timing belt change.

It was changed just before I bought it and I bet it is off a tooth. I never have changed a t-belt on teh 1.8t (i have done one one a 12v and a 30v), how can I tell if it is off a tooth?

Thanks

I don't think so aside from checking the timing belt and the voltage of the CPS.
