I don't even know where to begin to look for that. I figure might as well get 'em now as they'll come in hand in the future.
BTW - You have the part # handy for the oil filter?
Thanks.

They're molded plastic so they're real light. If they sell Mobil 1 filters at the parts store they should have a reference chart. I get my filters at the VW dealership because the same filter is cheaper there than at the Audi dealership.

Hi no frog jokes today - sorry.
As for the drain bolt, its a 17mm, not18 (at least my 98 is a 17) -- YOU SHOULD REPLACE THIS BOLT AND WASHER EACH TIME. mine leaked when I tried to re-use it (not a bad leak, just an occas. drip) torque is only 22lbs I think, that may be why mine leaks, cuz its probably as tight as a lug bolt (see, no joke this time!!)
I love the coolant res. removal idea, thats gonna work I beleive. The filter is right below it.
You should still jack up and use jack stands to be safe...or take the risk and get off on the rush of instant death by Audi. The lower cowl should be removed, its gonna get full of oil and drip out forever.
As for the Oil Filter - I would only use an Audi / VW filter, they are strong, the Audi oil pump puts out way more pressure than a fram or Mobil.
but Im just ****.

...service dept as I get off work late. And I'd like to do this tomorrow as I shudder to think of all that dirty oil grinding away at the turbo bearings and other whatnot.
I'll probably invest in some rhino ramps as they'll come in handy in the future and I really don't want to bone up more cash for a hydraulic jack as I have one at home already taht I forgot to take with me.
As for the drain bolt, where can I get a replacement other than the dealer? I would think the auto store would have it, but just to be sure? Thanks.

...but you can always check. Just FYI, I've re-used the same bolt washer for 3 oil changes and had no problems whatsoever. IMO, it's something that can be done, but doesn't absolutely HAVE to be done. Just depends on how **** you are I suppose..
