Need some input on a Clutch replacement
Got my 1998 2.8 with 85k miles in the shop for rebuild manual transmission (under extended warranty). The shop asked if I'd like to replace the clutch at this time since the tranny is going in, even though it looks worn but decent. an extra $620 for parts and an hour of labor. Kinda a tough decision, not sure how long these original clutches last. I don't drive it hard.

Parts sound kinda high, even so I would change it
Murphy's law states that it will wear out two weeks after you get the car back.
In all seriousness, 85K is pretty good wear for a clutch, way the labor cost + parts against the cost of 1 hour plus parts.
If it were me I and I were keeping the car I would change it now for the peace of mind and cost savings.

You can pick up AWE's Clutch Kit for around $500.
