I need idea's on what to write my two-semester long case study on. It should be relatively a simple problem that has been solved or is in the process of being solved, that I can find lots of information and write a technical write-up on.

I suggested turbo failures to my professor, but he said that was to comlex, involved,and a lot of the information would be propietary and hard to find. I'm wondering though if there is a "general" type of turbo failure that existed in the past, and has been solved for today's turbos that I could write a case study up on. Bearings maybe? oil cooling? I dunno... need some help here.

If your professor thinks that a report on the turbo is too complex, this should be suitable.
