The 25/28 mm variety are for the FWD. The 19/22 mm versions are for Quattro. The subframe ripping issue (on Quattro only) was solved by some rather beefy mounting brackets. The larger diameter bars (25/28) are absolutely necessary for FWD because anything smaller would have no effect on the torsion beam rear end.

get some day. Especially, since I'm going to switch to "medium" setting at some point. I think if I do that I still don't think it's handling at neutral, then the "hard" setting may need better end links to survive. I can't believe how difficult it is to make this car oversteer.
As far as extra stress on the springs/shocks, I wouldn't think so. If anything, I would think it makes them work less by holding the car down in place and making it run more neutral.
Your wheels are at an offset of +35, right? So, you already adding stress to things like wheel bearings. I run the same offset with 8mm hubcentric spacers, so you see how worried I am about it.
my theory: keep dialing it in and don't worry about having to replace other parts. after all, that's the best time to upgrade (normally with better parts for less than OEM parts from the dealer) without pissing off the gf :-)

In the case of your quattro, it's the subframe. This is why Neuspeed beefed up the mounting configuration. Do a search of the archives. I remember seeing some pictures of the new brackets.
As the sway bar pulls down on the shock body in a turn, I guess there is some stress imparted on the upper shock mount, but I have never heard of a failure here.

On the FWD, the OEM rear swaybar is integral to the torsion beam. So to make an aftermarket swaybar work, a brand new set of adjustable, steel endlinks are provided.
