Default If your question is: Do I need to have 16" wheels for snow tires - the answer is NO.

Lots of people running snow tires on 17" rims.

If your question is: Do I need snows - then the answer is yes!

Default the tire width is one of the most important things IMO. Plus,

unless you are going to get another set of wheels for the summer, why would you want to muck up those nice 17's? If you drive in deep snow, get a 15in or 16in rim with 205 or smaller width dedicated snow tires, and you will wonder why you even had trouble making a decision.
