New Jersey Window Tinting...............

New Jersey Window Tinting...............
I want to tint the windows on my new A4, but I've read that NJ law prohibits tinting the front side windows. Is this true? How many of you in NJ have tinted the front side windows? Any tickets / fines? Where in Northern New Jersey can I go to tint my windows?

It's true, no tint on front side windows in NJ.
The main drawback is probably finding someone to inspect the car and give you stickers every two years. If you can't, then you'll have to remove the front every two years, clear inspections, and re-apply tint.
The second drawback is that it does draw police to you like a magnet if the tint is too dark. That depends mostly on the local police, and can vary widely from town to town.

Re: It's true, no tint on front side windows in NJ.
well i'm in NJ, and on my passat (stock except for chip and kamei grill) i have 35% tint all the way around. my brother has an a4 (which i drive 50% of the time), its lowered, Supersprinted, chipped, and tinted 35% all around. we have had no problems with tickets or anything (knock on wood), but thats also because we stay away from certain towns in the area. my friend who has an a4 as well has the same as my brother cept, it isn't lowered, and he has 20% tint. he has already gotten pulled over a ticketed. its all a matter of what town you are in, ...how dark the tint is....and how you drive. i def. wouldn't get the 20% tint as that is very dark, the 35 is great. its dark, yet not too dark. most of the police around my area (central jersey) use the tint as a reason to pull you over to find more violations. when they see the passat, or the a4, they assume that its somewhat higher class, and the driver (demographically) isnt' some drug dealer or kid racer. the reason my friend got pulled over was because his tint was dark as hell, and he was in a very boring township where the police have nothing better to do than to pull people over !
